Qualifications

IDR is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to join one of our top clients in Charlotte, NC. This hands-on leadership role offers the opportunity to modernize an enterprise data platform while mentoring a small team of data engineers. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Snowflake, dbt, Python, SQL, and AWS, enjoys building scalable data solutions, and can balance technical delivery with team leadership.

Responsibilities for the Data Engineering Manager:

• Lead and mentor data engineers through code reviews, pair programming, technical guidance, and best-practice sharing.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines, data models, and analytics-ready datasets using Snowflake, dbt, Python, SQL, and AWS.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate data needs into reliable, high-quality solutions.
• Support migration from legacy SQL Server and SSIS environments to a modern Snowflake data platform.
• Design and build dimensional data marts to support reporting, business intelligence, and analytics.
• Implement data quality testing, monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments.
• Establish engineering standards for data modeling, documentation, security, performance, and secure data access.

Requirements for the Data Engineering Manager:

• 6+ years of data engineering experience, including cloud data platforms.
• 4+ years each of hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt (Cloud or Core), Python, and AWS.
• Experience building data warehouses, data marts, and production-grade data pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with dimensional modeling.
• Experience implementing CI/CD, automated deployments, and data quality testing.
• Experience mentoring junior or mid-level data engineers while remaining hands-on with development.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or similar.
• Understanding of data governance, security, role-based access control, monitoring, and compliance.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a lean team.
• Ability to work onsite in Charlotte, NC.

Preferred Qualifications:

• SQL Server and SSIS experience, particularly within cloud migration projects.
• AWS or Snowflake certifications.
• Experience with modern business intelligence and analytics platforms.
• Prior experience supporting cloud data platform migrations.Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
