Data Engineering Manager (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Hybrid Onsite- Dunwoody, GA

Compensation: $155-165,000 base + 15% annual bonus

The Opportunity

We’re hiring a hands-on Data Engineering Manager to lead a critical enterprise data modernization initiative, migrating legacy data platforms and applications to a modern cloud-based architecture centered on Snowflake. This role is designed for a technical leader who still loves to build someone equally comfortable architecting solutions, writing production-grade code, and developing high-performing teams.

You’ll own the program end-to-end: architecture, execution, delivery, and team leadership. Roughly 50% hands-on technical engineering and 50% people leadership, this role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution.

What You’ll Do

Data Engineering & Architecture (50%)

• Architect and implement scalable, cloud-native data solutions using Snowflake as the core data platform.
• Lead the migration from legacy data systems and applications to Snowflake, ensuring performance, reliability, and data integrity.
• Design and implement analytics engineering workflows using dbt (Data Build Tool) within Snowflake.
• Develop and optimize data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and analytics consumption.
• Partner closely with analytics, product, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Establish best practices for data modeling, CI/CD, testing, documentation, and governance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data engineering challenges in production environments.

People Leadership & Delivery (50%)

• Lead and mentor a hybrid team consisting of:
• Drive sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and execution across distributed teams.
• Own end-to-end delivery of a multi-phase Data Modernization Program launching in Q2 2026.
• Set clear expectations, performance standards, and career development plans for team members.
• Act as the primary technical lead and escalation point for data engineering initiatives.
• Collaborate with leadership on roadmap planning, resourcing, and delivery timelines.

What We’re Looking For

Required Experience

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with recent hands-on work in cloud data platforms.
• 3+ years of experience leading data engineering teams.
• Deep, practical experience with Snowflake (architecture, performance tuning, cost optimization).
• Strong experience with dbt for analytics engineering and transformation modeling.
• Proven success migrating data from legacy systems to cloud-based architectures.
• Experience leading projects with offshore and onshore teams.
• Strong understanding of modern data stack concepts (ELT, semantic layers, orchestration, CI/CD).
