Job summary

Pacific Life is seeking Data Engineering Interns for Summer 2027 in Newport Beach, CA. You will work with Python, R, and data tools to support a data-driven culture across business units, gaining hands-on experience in analytics, modeling, and data engineering.

Interns will collaborate with teams like predictive analytics, actuarial, IT, and customer experience, learning how data informs product features, processes, and decisions while receiving mentorship and exposure to real-world projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Programming experience in Python or R.
• Experience with data modeling.
• Familiarity with data analytics tools and platforms such as Alteryx, AWS data services, SAS, Tableau, and SQL/NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Participate in evaluating business needs, requirements, data, processes and systems for complex technology projects.
• Mine large and complex datasets for insights and convert insights into product features.
• Collaborate with analysts and other engineers to formulate data engineering solutions.
• Build scalable data engineering solutions with performance and reliability in mind.
• Work with other teams on integration design, development and implementation.
• Communicate complex concepts and results clearly.
