Job summary

The Data Engineering Intern will support the North America Operations data management strategy by strengthening the data foundation behind regional KPI reporting, operational analytics, and decision-making. The intern will work with cross-functional teams to support data quality, KPI source mapping, and foundational data model support.

This role is suited for a student or early-career candidate with strong SQL/data skills and an interest in learning how manufacturing data drives business

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or similar.
• Strong interest in data management, analytics, reporting, or manufacturing operations.
• Foundational SQL, Excel, and basic data validation.

Job Summary

The Data Engineering Intern will support the North America Operations data management strategy by helping strengthen the data foundation behind regional KPI reporting, operational analytics, and decision-making. This role is focused on how operational data is sourced, structured, validated, documented, and prepared for reporting. The intern will work closely with the Operations Data Management Lead and cross-functional partners across Operations, IT, Engineering, and site teams to support data quality, KPI source mapping, metric catalog development, and foundational data model support. This is a good fit for a student or early-career candidate with strong technical curiosity, SQL/data skills, and an interest in learning how manufacturing operations data is used to improve business performance.

Education & Experience

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma, undergraduate, or postgraduate program in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or other relevant degree.
• Prior academic, project, or internship exposure is an advantage but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Support daily activities and assigned tasks under supervision.
• Assist with documentation, coordination, data handling, and routine activities as required.
• Participate in learning standard processes, safety practices, and quality requirements.
• Contribute to project-related work and continuous improvement initiatives while following established policies and timelines.

Required Skills

• Strong interest in data management, analytics, reporting, or manufacturing operations.
• Foundational SQL skills, including joins, filters, aggregations, and basic data validation.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with structured datasets.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify data inconsistencies.
• Good documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to Snowflake or another cloud data warehouse.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts, data pipelines, or data lake environments.
• Experience with Python, Power Query, dbt, Alteryx, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, or similar tools.
• Exposure to APIs, JSON, flat files, or database connections.
• Understanding of data modeling concepts such as fact tables, dimension tables, relationships, and data grain.
• Familiarity with BI tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
