Dow Jones’ Data Architecture & Platform Engineering team is expanding its data platform built on Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and Python to empower energy-focused products. You will own end-to-end small-to-medium features, collaborating with analytics, product, and other engineering teams to ship scalable data solutions used by readers and internal teams.

The role reports to the Director - Data Architecture & Platform Engineering and offers a hybrid work model within the United States, with

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or database development
• Keen interest in AI landscape and its impact on data engineering
• Strong SQL skills, ideally in a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake preferred; BigQuery/Redshift acceptable)
• Proficiency with Python for data processing, automation or scripting
• Experience with modern data tooling such as Airflow or dbt, or similar orchestration/transform frameworks
• Familiarity with Git and a mainstream CI/CD workflow
• Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ELT pipelines in dbt and Snowflake, orchestrated with Airflow
• Write tested SQL and Python for ingestion, transformation, validation and delivery
• Design data models that integrate multiple sources and support downstream use
• Contribute to CI/CD, testing frameworks, observability and data-quality checks
• Monitor pipeline health, investigate issues, propose fixes and escalate when needed
• Participate in code reviews, technical design, on-call rotation and production support
• Translate analyst/product requirements into working data solutions
