Job summary

CJ is seeking a Data Engineer in Santa Barbara, CA, to design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms and pipelines in a hybrid role requiring three days in the CJ office. You will work across cloud platforms and modern lakehouse architectures to enable analytics, AI/ML, and enterprise data products.

The role collaborates with Data Science, Analytics, Product, and Engineering teams to deliver trusted data assets while maintaining CI/CD and governance across data platforms.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks, AWS, Snowflake, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with AI and automation tools to improve productivity and code quality.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Experience with Spark and distributed data processing (PySpark preferred).
• Experience with ETL/ELT, event-driven or workflow-based data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, PySpark, SQL, and Spark technologies.
• Develop and maintain data products within a modern Lakehouse architecture.
• Create and optimize data workflows and monitoring to ensure pipeline reliability and performance.
• Manage cloud-based data infrastructure across Databricks, AWS, Snowflake, and Google Cloud.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, Product, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable data assets.
• Maintain source control and CI/CD processes across data platforms.
