Castalia Systems is seeking a Data Engineer-Mid to support a government customer in Chantilly, Virginia. The role focuses on data analysis, modeling, and automation of data extraction and processing for complex, multi-terabyte databases.

The candidate will develop data models, apply advanced statistics, and produce data packages and reports for upper management, with strong emphasis on independent data science work and clear communication of results.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience.
• Automation and optimization of data and products for upper management.
• Understanding of regression, anomaly detection, and clustering.
• Ability to create databases, reports, and interactive visualizations.
• Strong communication of technical findings to diverse customers.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data with statistics to extract relevant information.
• Automate data extraction, cleaning, processing and analysis.
• Develop and implement data models to solve problems.
• Apply novel statistical approaches for complex issues.
• Prepare reports detailing methods, results, and impacts.
• Assist in acquiring data systems and related capabilities.
• Use statistics packages like SPSS, SAS, S-PLUS, R.
• Program to extract, transform, and clean multi-terabyte databases.
• Maintain current data science/engineering work over time.
