Job summary

SHR Consulting Group is seeking a Data Engineer - Mid to design, develop, and maintain cloud-based data pipelines and ETL processes for FEMA’s analytics platforms. You will work with distributed computing tools and cloud data services to enable scalable data ingestion and governance.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, with strong SQL, Python, and Databricks/Spark expertise.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of data engineering experience.
• Proficient with Spark, EMR, and Databricks.
• Advanced SQL and Python skills.
• Experience with DHS governance and security standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Data Engineer - Mid to support the design, development, and maintenance of cloud-based data pipelines, ETL processes, and data ingestion frameworks for FEMA’s data analytics platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and optimize complex data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
• Lead data modeling, partitioning, and performance tuning.
• Ensure FISMA/FedRAMP-compliant security and data governance.
• Support analytics, AI/ML teams, and cross-program data initiatives.
• Oversee automation, code reviews, and DevSecOps integration.
• At least 3+ years of relevant working experience in a similar role.
• Deep experience with distributed computing (Spark, EMR, Databricks).
• Advanced SQL, Python, and cloud data tooling.
• Familiarity with DHS data governance and security standards.

Education and Certification Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Clearance Requirements

• Ability to obtain Public Trust. Active Public Trust is preferred. FEMA Public Trust is highly preferred.
