Job summary

Apple Inc. in Sunnyvale seeks a Data Engineer for Health Technologies to design and support data pipelines and analytics workflows, integrating with study leads, data scientists, and engineers to enable research ahead of product cycles.

You will also build and maintain iOS/macOS apps that collect data and prototype health features. Candidates should have 3+ years of software development, deep Python or Scala skills, and experience with Spark, Hadoop, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, Postgres/SQL,

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in Software Development.
• Expert in at least one of Python or Scala, with hands-on experience in large-scale data processing and in workflow orchestration and containerization (Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience designing and implementing custom ETL workflows and data models across relational and file-system databases (e.g., Postgres, SQL, Parquet, S3, Data Lake).
• Experience in Swift and Xcode-based development, shipping iOS and macOS apps utilizing Apple technologies and frameworks (SwiftUI, SwiftData/CoreData, Swift Concurrency, Combine, HealthKit, Core Bluetooth).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, launch, and maintain systems for storing, aggregating, and analyzing large amounts of data.
• Automate and monitor data ingestion and transformation pipelines with QA, auditing, redaction, and compliance checks.
• Process, troubleshoot, and clean incoming data from human studies; manage databases with clinical data.
• Architect data models and harmonize disparate data sources across collection paths.
• Develop iOS/macOS apps to support data collection and health feature prototyping from research sensors and hardware.
