Job summary

TikTok is offering an internship in the Data Platform E-Commerce team in San Jose. You will design and build data transformations, optimize large-scale data systems, and gain hands-on experience in information retrieval, ML/NLU, and distributed systems.

We seek students pursuing CS with 12 weeks in Summer 2026, strong SQL and ETL interest, and willingness to work on high-impact problems alongside industry professionals.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026.
• Experience with Big Data technologies (Hadoop, M/R, Hive, Spark, Metastore, Presto, Flume, Kafka, ClickHouse, Flink etc.).
• Experience with performing data analysis, data ingestion and data integration.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Preferred: Experience with ETL and architecting data systems.
• Preferred: Experience with schema design, data modeling and SQL queries.

Responsibilities

• Design and build data transformations efficiently and reliably for reporting, growth analysis, and multi-dimensional analysis.
• Design and implement reliable, scalable big data systems that support core products and business.
• Establish solid design and best engineering practice for engineers and non-technical people.
