Travelers in Hartford, CT is seeking a Data Engineer to grow our analytics landscape. You will design, build and deploy data solutions that support AI, ML and business insights, partnering with upstream engineering teams to translate source releases into stable data models.

You will work with Snowflake, SQL and dbt to transform and organize data, ensure data quality and governance, and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable data products for enterprise consumers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM related field or equivalent.
• Eight years of related experience.
• Partner with upstream engineering teams to translate incremental source system releases into stable, consumer-ready data models.
• Contribute to the design of a unified analytics data layer for a consistent view of claim data across sources.
• Proven experience with data warehousing and data consumption, including multi-layer data architectures and pipelines.
• Hands-on proficiency with Snowflake, including views, streams, and core features.
• Strong SQL skills and practical experience with dbt for data transformation and schema management.
• Data mapping, data virtualization, and query/pipeline performance optimization.
• Experience with systems migration and integration across platforms.
• Domain expertise and knowledge of industry trends; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and operationalize complex data solutions, correct problems, and recommend data cleansing/quality solutions.
• Design complex data solutions.
• Perform analysis of complex sources to determine value and use in analytics.
• Incorporate data governance, data security and data quality.
• Collaborate across teams to support delivery and educate end users on data products.
• Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for defects/incidents.
• Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
