Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own scalable data infrastructure on AWS (Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR) that delivers reliable access to large-scale transportation and customs datasets for cross-functional stakeholders
• Architect and implement end-to-end ETL pipelines that ingest, transform, and load data from diverse sources, ensuring timely delivery of critical business metrics with a focus on automation, efficiency, and fault tolerance
• Drive database performance optimization through workload management, query tuning, and monitoring strategies that maintain high availability and fast response times for analytical workloads
• Enable data-driven decision-making by partnering with BI Engineers and Data Scientists to deliver self-service analytics, data visualization, and machine learning solutions that reduce time-to-insight
• Establish and maintain data quality frameworks, data catalogs, and governance processes that protect data integrity and empower business users to discover and trust the data they rely on

A Day in the Life

Mornings involve checking pipeline health and addressing data delivery issues. Deep focus is spent building new ETL pipelines, refining Redshift queries, and designing data models. Afternoons are reserved for collaborating with BI Engineers on visualization requirements, supporting Data Scientists with feature engineering, and translating transportation procurement questions into concrete technical solutions.
