Job summary

HDR is seeking a Data Engineer II to build and maintain batch and streaming ingestion pipelines into the enterprise data platform. The role will implement robust error handling, retries, and recovery patterns to improve reliability, and collaborate with platform teams on connectivity and operational readiness.

You will develop transformation models in a layered structure, use dependency management, and leverage shared code to standardize patterns and reduce duplication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Proven SQL proficiency and experience building transformations and pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms and modern ELT patterns.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain batch and streaming ingestion pipelines into the enterprise data platform.
• Implement robust error handling, retries, and recovery patterns to improve reliability.
• Collaborate with platform teams on connectivity, access, and operational readiness.
• Develop transformation models using a layered structure (raw, conformed, curated).
• Use dependency management patterns to ensure correct build order and reproducible transformations.
• Leverage shared code and reusable components to standardize patterns and reduce duplication.
• Implement incremental processing to reduce runtime and warehouse cost.
• Configure and monitor data quality tests on critical models and key business entities.
• Document operational procedures and publish documentation and lineage.
