Job summary

Crane is seeking a data-focused platform engineer to design and operate streaming pipelines and data services that move data reliably across systems. You will manage schemas, topics, and data contracts while provisioning infrastructure as code across shared environments using Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker.

The role includes on-call rotations, incident analysis, and durable fixes with clear follow-through.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a relevant technical field.
• 1–3+ years of data engineering, platform, or backend infra experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain streaming and replication pipelines (CDC, Kafka, Materialize) that move data reliably from source systems into the platform.
• Manage schemas, topics, and data contracts to keep producers and consumers consistent and governed.
• Provision and manage infrastructure as code across shared environments (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker).
• Configure clusters, access controls, and role-based permissions for shared platform resources.
• Own CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling (GitHub Actions) for safe and fast releases.
• Build monitoring and observability with Prometheus and Grafana, plus incident response and post-incident follow-through.
