Job summary

UST in Frisco, TX / Seattle, WA is seeking an Associate Data Engineer to learn the full HR analytics data engineering vertical, from ingestion to modeling, through to the Microsoft Fabric semantic layer and Power BI visualizations.

You will land source data into the ingestion framework, implement data models in Snowflake and Databricks, build the semantic layer in Fabric, and create Power BI reports while applying data quality checks and unit tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE or related field with 1+ year of work or internship experience.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with at least 1 year of hands-on data work.
• Familiarity with Spark (PySpark/Spark SQL) and cloud data platforms like Databricks or Snowflake.
• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI and basic data modeling concepts.

Responsibilities

• Execute components of solution designs under guidance to deliver production-grade code.
• Land source data into the ingestion framework using established patterns.
• Implement data models and transformations in Snowflake and Databricks per design.
• Apply medallion architecture and engineering standards to all work.
• Build semantic layer components in Microsoft Fabric per specifications.
• Develop Power BI visualizations and reports following BI standards.
• Implement unit tests and data quality checks for assigned work.
