Job summary

Detroit Red Wings is seeking a full-time Data Engineer to support all internal data and infrastructure initiatives in Hockey Operations. You will report to the Director of Statistical Analysis within Hockey Operations.

The role focuses on managing hockey data, building robust data pipelines, and modernizing legacy systems to enable seamless analytics and software integration across the organization.

Qualifications

• Understanding of modern data engineering and best practices.
• Expertise with large-scale relational databases and SQL.
• Experience building data warehouses for data science and analytics.
• Cloud computing experience (Azure, AWS, etc.).
• Ability to build high-performance data pipelines ensuring data quality.
• Experience using AI tools to analyze and refactor pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Manage the consumption, storage, and maintenance of hockey data.
• Design automated processes to oversee data integrity and query performance.
• Migrate/modernize legacy pipelines and build new ones for data integration.
• Oversee integration of data into analytics and software systems.
• Maintain expertise in modern data management techniques.
