Job summary

EKASYS INC in Huntsville, AL is hiring a Data Engineer to support a mission-critical application modernization effort. In this onsite role, you will design, build, and maintain data infrastructure and architecture, with responsibility for legacy-to-modern migration, ETL pipeline development, and governed data quality across the data lifecycle.

You will design and optimize SSIS-based ETL pipelines, define source-to-target mappings, and collaborate with SMEs to ensure data accuracy and compliance

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of data engineering, ETL, database, or data migration experience.
• Experience designing ETL pipelines with SSIS or similar tools.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience with enterprise data migration (source-to-target mapping, transformation, validation, data quality).
• Experience building data architectures for transactional and/or analytical workloads.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Background Investigation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL and data pipelines (SSIS or equivalent).
• Define and document source-to-target mappings, transformations, and data migration procedures.
• Collaborate with SMEs to validate data mappings and migrated data.
• Design and maintain scalable data architectures, schemas, dictionaries, and ERDs.
• Manage ETL execution, monitor data quality, and ensure traceability to user stories.
• Optimize SQL Server schemas, queries, indexes, and data workflows.
• Design data interfaces and integrations with internal/external systems, including APIs.
• Ensure data governance, security, and API standards compliance.
• Support CI/CD and automated data-layer testing.
