Job summary

Virtualitics is seeking a Data Engineer to build and own the data foundation for AI-native readiness applications. You will craft pipelines and infrastructure turning high-volume government data into AI-ready inputs, working with ML engineers and data scientists to operationalize data workflows.

You’ll collaborate with Platform, AI, and DevSecOps teams to ensure secure, scalable data architectures and DoD-compliant data management across cloud and on-premise environments.

Qualifications

• Active US Government Security Clearance (SECRET or higher) required.
• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of data engineering or production data pipelines experience.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience with distributed data processing (Spark).
• Relational DBs (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modeling.
• Advanced AWS (S3, RDS, EMR, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch); secure cloud environments.
• Experience building data quality, validation, and observability.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Model and manage structured and unstructured data for AI/ML workloads and analytics.
• Partner with engineers and data scientists to productionize data workflows and model inputs.
• Build and improve automation for data quality, validation, lineage, and monitoring.
• Optimize storage, query performance, and cost across relational and object stores.
• Implement data security, access controls, and DoD-compliant governance.
• Support ingestion and integration within DoD and commercial environments, including secure settings.
• Investigate and resolve data, pipeline, and performance issues.
• Collaborate with Platform/AI/DevSecOps/QA to ensure reliable data architectures.
