Job summary

Capital Technology Group seeks a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics platforms on AWS. You will partner with fellow engineers to evaluate new tools and deliver value for federal and commercial clients.

The role emphasizes modern data engineering practices, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with agile teams to meet mission-critical needs while ensuring security controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• 4+ years of professional data engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark, Python, SQL, and dbt.
• Experience building AWS-native data platforms with Glue, EMR, MWAA, Lambda, and Redshift.
• Familiarity with Iceberg, Parquet, ORC, Avro and data modeling on relational/NoSQL systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and data models using Python, Spark, Databricks, dbt, SQL, and AWS Glue.
• Develop and optimize AWS-native data platforms leveraging Glue, EMR, MWAA, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Redshift, RDS, DMS, and CloudWatch.
• Build high-performance ingestion and orchestration workflows for structured and semi-structured data using Iceberg, Parquet, ORC, and Avro.
• Design and optimize analytical data platforms using Athena, Trino, Hive, OpenSearch, and data catalogs.
• Integrate enterprise and external data sources across relational and NoSQL databases.
• Build AI-enabled data solutions using Bedrock, RAG pipelines, and vector search with S3 Vector and OpenSearch.
