Job summary

Franklin Templeton is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data platforms across transaction systems and cloud-based lakehouse architectures. You will collaborate with global teams to translate business needs into reliable, scalable data solutions.

The role supports a hybrid schedule (3 days/week) in Stamford, CT or Baltimore, MD offices, with a competitive total rewards package including base salary and discretionary bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years designing and building enterprise data pipelines and platforms.
• Ability to build or optimize data workflows, not just operate systems.
• Experience translating business requirements into scalable data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build data products with defined SLAs and consumer-facing interfaces (APIs, reports, datasets).
• Develop and optimize data processing using SQL, PL/SQL, and Python for large-scale datasets.
• Improve pipeline performance and manage cost through efficient design.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Ensure data quality with validation, monitoring, and governance controls.
• Troubleshoot issues and drive root cause analysis for reliability.
• Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines for data pipelines and services.
• Define and enforce data/API contracts for consistency across systems.
