About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Business Intelligence department on a full-time, mid-level basis. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting and enhancing our data analytics and business intelligence platform. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain scalable data pipelines that facilitate the collection, storage, and processing of large, complex datasets from diverse sources. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and product managers, to translate business requirements into robust data solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects that empower our clients with actionable insights, ultimately driving strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in IT, with a strong background in data management, solution design, and large-scale data set handling. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. Proficiency in developing data pipelines from structured and unstructured data sources, along with extensive experience in ETL processes, is required. Candidates should have strong skills in data manipulation using languages such as Python, R, SQL, or SAS, and possess a thorough understanding of big data storage and analysis tools. Familiarity with relational databases like PostgreSQL, version control systems such as Git, and CI/CD pipelines is essential. Additional preferred qualifications include experience creating and consuming APIs, knowledge of DHS standards, and proficiency in visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI. Experience with Linux shell scripting and translating complex technical requirements into strategic data solutions will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer, your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining efficient data pipelines to support our analytics initiatives. You will collaborate with Agile/Scrum teams to ensure best practices in software development, automation, and continuous integration. Writing reliable, high-performance code for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes will be a core aspect of your role. You will support ongoing process automation efforts for data ingestion and validation, ensuring data quality and integrity. Working closely with program management and engineering teams, you will help define and implement complex requirements while adhering to lean-agile principles. Your role will also involve documenting technical solutions, supporting data security protocols, and promoting a culture of innovation, teamwork, and customer service excellence. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of data visualizations and dashboards to facilitate data-driven decision-making across the organization.
