Qualifications

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our dynamic team at GrabJobs. In this role, you will be instrumental in analyzing vast datasets to uncover meaningful patterns and insights that drive strategic decision-making. Your expertise will contribute to building sophisticated data products, developing predictive models, and implementing machine learning algorithms that optimize operational performance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, a passion for research and innovation, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable business strategies. You will collaborate closely with engineering and product development teams to design scalable solutions and ensure the successful deployment of data-driven initiatives that support our company's growth objectives.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a Data Scientist or Data Analyst role, demonstrating a proven track record of delivering impactful data solutions.
  • Extensive experience in data mining, machine learning, and operations research, with a solid understanding of statistical analysis and mathematical modeling.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, design patterns, and building scalable, secure data architectures, preferably on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with data pipelines, automation, and DevOps tools to streamline data collection and processing workflows.
  • Strong skills in business intelligence and visualization tools, including Tableau, as well as familiarity with data frameworks like Hadoop, DataFrames, RDDs, and data formats such as CSV, JSON, Parquet, Avro, and ORC.
  • Advanced programming skills in R, SQL, and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java, or C++ is considered an asset.
  • Educational background with a Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field; graduate degrees are preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, eligible to work legally within the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Research and identify valuable data sources, automating data collection processes to ensure efficient and reliable data acquisition.
  • Perform preprocessing and cleaning of both structured and unstructured data to prepare datasets for analysis.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable code following best practices, including version control with Git/Github, secure handling of credentials, and configuration management using YAML/JSON.
  • Analyze large datasets to discover trends, patterns, and anomalies that can inform business strategies and operational improvements.
  • Create and refine predictive models and machine learning algorithms to solve complex business problems and forecast future outcomes.
  • Implement ensemble modeling techniques by modifying and combining different models to enhance accuracy and robustness.
  • Visualize data insights through effective dashboards and reports using visualization tools, making complex information accessible to stakeholders.
  • Develop innovative solutions and strategic recommendations to address key business challenges, aligning data initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to integrate data models into production environments, ensuring seamless deployment and scalability.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI to continually enhance analytical capabilities and methodologies.
