Job summary

HCLTech is seeking a Technical Lead - Data Engineering (Snowflake & dbt) to design, build, and optimize enterprise data warehouses and ELT pipelines. You will drive architecture decisions, enforce data quality, and mentor both onsite and offshore teams across Snowflake-based solutions.

The role requires deep expertise in Snowflake, dbt, and SQL, with strong leadership and collaboration skills to translate business requirements into scalable technical implementations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, enterprise-grade data warehouse and ELT solutions using Snowflake and dbt (Core/Cloud).
• Architect and develop production-ready data pipelines with robust data transformation frameworks and reusable models.
• Design and optimize advanced SQL-based transformations, incremental models, snapshots, and data marts within Snowflake.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for dbt deployments, leveraging Git-based version control and DevOps best practices.
• Drive Snowflake performance tuning, workload optimization, warehouse sizing, clustering strategies, and cost governance initiatives.
• Integrate dbt solutions with orchestration platforms such as Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent scheduling frameworks.
• Establish and enforce enterprise data quality standards through automated testing, observability, monitoring, and lineage tracking.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, solution architects, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Conduct architecture reviews, technical design sessions, and code reviews to ensure adherence to industry best practices.
• Implement Snowflake security, governance, role-based access controls, and compliance standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to onsite and offshore data engineering teams.
• Drive delivery excellence within an onsite-offshore operating model, ensuring timely execution and high-quality outcomes.
• Support production issue resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Role/Responsibilities

Academic Qualifications/Level of Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will also be considered.

Required Skills

• 6+ of overall experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and Analytics solutions.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake cloud data warehouse platform.
• Strong expertise in dbt (Core and/or Cloud) for modern ELT development.
• Advanced SQL programming and query optimization skills.
• Experience implementing incremental loading, snapshot strategies, and complex data transformations in dbt.
• Strong understanding of modern ELT architecture and data warehouse design principles.
• Experience with Git, branching strategies, pull requests, and code review processes.
• Strong understanding of Snowflake security architecture, access controls, and governance practices.
• Proven experience leading technical teams, conducting design reviews, and driving engineering best practices.
• Experience working within an onsite-offshore delivery model and mentoring offshore resources.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Desired Qualifications

• Snowflake SnowPro Certification.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or other CI/CD platforms.
• Knowledge of Python scripting for data engineering automation.
• Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data catalog tools.
• Exposure to modern data observability platforms.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum-based delivery environments.
• Familiarity with enterprise-scale cloud migration and modernization programs.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range Minimum: $110,000

Pay Range Maximum: $140000
