Job summary

Lindenwood University is seeking a Data Engineer in Information Technology. The role involves designing and building scalable data systems, collecting and analyzing data from diverse sources, and collaborating with university stakeholders to meet reporting needs.

You will support AI readiness, maintain documentation, and help implement security and governance policies while working within the IT Enterprise Systems team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years working with Microsoft Data Products, including Azure Database and Power Platform tools.
  • Experience with data lake and star schema configuration.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with stakeholders across departments to understand university data reporting and analysis objectives.
  • Designs, implements, documents, and maintains a data lake according to university data requirements.
  • Prepares university data environment for artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and use.
  • Recommends solutions or alternative methods to meet requirements.
  • Provides technical support to department users of the system.
  • Develops and maintains system documentation, including user manuals, technical guides, and standard operating procedures.
  • Manages any necessary system upgrades and enhancements, including testing and documentation updates.
  • Troubleshoots issues related to data access and manipulation and provides timely solutions.
  • Develops and implements system security policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with university data governance and security policies.
  • Develops algorithms to transform data into useful, actionable information.
  • Monitors system and integration performance and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Participates in project planning and implementation for system-related initiatives.

Job Summary

The data engineer is responsible for the design and build ofsystems for collecting, storing, and analyzing data at scale fromdisparate sources. This position collaborates with stakeholdersacross the university to ensure the system meets the needs of theorganization and users. This position also provides technicalsupport to department users, manages system upgrades andenhancements, and is responsible for security configuration. Aspart of the IT team in Enterprise Systems, the data engineer’sefforts will also adhere to direction from the chief informationofficer, chief data officer, director of enterprise systems, andother university administrators.

Job Responsibilities and Execution

Required Qualifications
