Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Data Engineer II / Analytics Engineer to join its Data & Analytics team. You will build dbt models on Snowflake to transform landed data into clean, business-ready tables and support Finance with cash flow data.

The role includes collaborating with analytics partners and enabling Power BI reporting in a hybrid setup across Miami, FL and Dallas, TX. You will work on data quality, AI framework efforts, and multiple concurrent projects with a distributed team, delivering

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering.
• Hands-on dbt experience with own models, not just running existing ones.
• Strong SQL skills with complex queries, CTEs, window functions, and tuning.
• Solid data modeling knowledge (fact/dimension, star schema, grain).
• Experience with Snowflake and working knowledge of AWS.
• Proficiency in Python and ability to explain data to non-technical partners.
• Comfortable juggling multiple projects within a distributed team.

Responsibilities

About The Role

Brooksource is seeking a Data Engineer II / Analytics Engineer to join a growing Data & Analytics team at a leading homebuilding organization. The team recently rebuilt its AWS data lake and now owns everything downstream of it: transforming raw data into trusted, business-ready models and delivering it through reporting and emerging AI capabilities. You'll work on the modeling and analytics side, building dbt models on Snowflake that turn landed data into clean, well-structured tables the business relies on. A major near-term focus is bringing in financial data, including banking, credit card transactions, and cash flow, and building the data models that Finance will build on. The team is also developing an agentic AI framework, and you'll have the chance to grow into that work. This is a high-variety role on a collaborative, low-ego team. Work comes in across many projects, and everyone jumps in wherever it's needed.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain dbt data models in Snowflake, organizing them into clear layers (staging, intermediate, and business-ready marts)
• Build new data models to support Finance and Land, including financial transaction and cash flow data
• Write clean, performant SQL and use Python for automation and transformation logic that SQL can't handle cleanly
• Implement data quality checks, testing, and documentation so business users can trust the numbers
• Partner with analysts and business stakeholders to translate reporting needs into well-designed data models
• Support Power BI reporting by delivering models that are easy to report from
• Help build and test AI agents as the team expands its agentic framework
• Work across multiple concurrent projects with a distributed team spanning Miami, Dallas, and remote

What You Bring

• 2-3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related role
• Hands-on dbt experience, writing and maintaining your own models rather than only running existing ones
• Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, CTEs, window functions, and performance tuning
• Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, such as fact and dimension tables, star schema, and grain
• Experience with Snowflake and working knowledge of AWS
• Working proficiency in Python
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain data to non-technical partners
• Adaptability and a team-first mindset; you're comfortable juggling multiple projects and helping wherever work lands

Nice to Have

• Experience with financial data (banking, credit card transactions, cash flow, reconciliation, month-end reporting)
• Power BI experience
• Exposure to AI/LLM tools or agentic frameworks
• Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD for data projects
