Job summary

HIRECLOUT is seeking a Data Engineer in California to own data pipelines, transform and model data, and deliver reliable datasets for business insights. You will collaborate with engineering, marketing, and analytics teams to ensure high-quality data and actionable analytics across the organization.

The role emphasizes building scalable data workflows, supporting LTV, attribution, and cross-channel reporting, and driving data governance in a fast-paced retail analytics function.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience querying and optimizing large datasets.
  • Proficiency in Python or another modern programming language such as JavaScript, PHP, or .NET.
  • Experience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows.
  • Own data acquisition, transformation, modeling, and lineage across multiple business systems.
  • Develop and optimize data pipelines using SaaS ELT tools, orchestration platforms, and custom scripting.
  • Partner with engineering, marketing, and business stakeholders to improve data quality, accessibility, and reliability.
  • Support advanced analytics initiatives including customer segmentation, lifetime value (LTV) analysis, marketing attribution, ROI measurement, and cross-channel performance reporting.
  • Help identify trends and opportunities by delivering clean, actionable datasets for business intelligence and reporting.
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts and analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Continuously improve data processes, documentation, and overall data governance.

  • Passion for leveraging data to drive business strategy and improve customer experiences.
