Job Title: Data Engineer

Location Requirements: Remote

Job Type: Direct Hire

Salary: $90,000-160,000

Role Overview:
You will join a small, fast-moving data team as a hybrid Data Engineer. Your role combines technical data engineering with partnership responsibilities, working closely with business stakeholders, especially in FP&A and corporate reporting. You will uncover reporting needs, translate them into clear requirements, and manage the data work from discovery to delivery. You will become an expert in data structures behind the scenes, particularly for ATS exports, and contribute across multiple functions in a small company environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with FP&A and corporate reporting stakeholders to understand needs, including ATS reporting/data requests.

  • Proactively anticipate stakeholder needs, ask clarifying questions, and confirm assumptions before building.

  • Own work end-to-end: requirements gathering, story writing, ticket creation, prioritization, building, testing/QA, code reviews, and deployment.

  • Become an expert in data structures behind the scenes, especially regarding ATS exports and custom fields, to map backend data to business meaning.

  • Contribute as a versatile team member, stepping into various roles to help move work forward.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to solve SQL problems live in an interview setting.

  • Solid understanding of core data concepts and data modeling techniques.

  • Demonstrated ownership and initiative; proactive rather than order-driven.

  • Strong stakeholder communication skills, capable of guiding internal customers toward clear requirements.

  • Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake or other cloud data platforms like Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift.

  • Prior experience in report building or as a technical product manager who transitioned into data engineering.
