Job summary

Gravity IT Resources is seeking a hybrid Data Engineer to join a small, fast-moving data team. The role blends technical data engineering with partnership responsibilities, working with FP&A and corporate reporting to uncover reporting needs and translate them into clear requirements.

You will own end-to-end data work from discovery to delivery, become the expert in ATS data structures, and contribute across functions in a small company environment.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills with live problem solving in interviews.
• Solid understanding of core data concepts and data modeling.
• Demonstrated ownership and initiative; proactive rather than order-driven.
• Strong stakeholder communication to guide internal customers.
• Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data platforms (Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift).
• Prior experience in report building or as a technical product manager turned data engineer.
• 5+ years data engineering experience, or SQL-based reporting plus 2+ years data engineering.

Responsibilities

• Partner with FP&A and corporate reporting stakeholders to understand needs, including ATS reporting/data requests.
• Proactively anticipate stakeholder needs, ask clarifying questions, and confirm assumptions before building.
• Own work end-to-end: requirements gathering, story writing, ticket creation, prioritization, building, testing/QA, code reviews, and deployment.
• Become an expert in data structures behind the scenes, especially regarding ATS exports and custom fields, to map backend data to business meaning.
• Contribute as a versatile team member, stepping into various roles to help move work forward.
