Qualifications

• Experience with cloud data platforms, big data ecosystems, cost optimization, and scalability.

What We Are Looking For
The Sr Data Engineer is responsible for overseeing the data engineering team and driving the strategic direction of enterprise data initiatives. This role leads delivery across multiple data projects, ensures data solutions are scalable and secure, and partners with business and technology stakeholders to translate organizational goals into actionable technical execution.

This position blends hands-on technical leadership with people leadership-setting standards, modernizing legacy patterns, reducing technical debt, and guiding the team through complex data engineering challenges while adopting new tools and approaches that improve reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the data engineering team, including project planning, resource allocation, and performance management
• Develop and enforce data engineering standards, processes, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across data projects
• Partner with business leaders, data scientists, and IT teams to understand priorities and translate business needs into technical requirements and delivery plans
• Ensure data solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned to long-term organizational goals, supporting both current and future data needs
• Drive adoption of new technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of data engineering practices
• Oversee development and maintenance of data documentation (architecture diagrams, process flows, technical specifications)
• Manage and reduce technical debt; modernize legacy systems and ensure new solutions are maintainable and scalable
• Provide technical leadership for complex data issues, guiding troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts

Qualifications
Required

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 7-10 years of data engineering experience, with significant leadership and project management experience
• Strong leadership and project management skills, including leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Expertise with cloud data platforms and big data ecosystems, with emphasis on optimizing cost, performance, and scalability (AWS experience required; exposure to Snowflake and Azure)
• Proficiency in advanced data modeling and enterprise-scale architecture (data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts)
• Experience with data governance practices (cataloging, lineage, data quality management)
• Exposure to enterprise data management frameworks such as MDM and metadata management
• Advanced programming/scripting capability in Python, Java, and/or Scala for workflow automation and data engineering solutions
• Experience with real-time processing and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming, AWS Lambda)
