Job description

Job Description

This is a hybrid role and requires 3 days onsite in the Buffalo, NY area.

Our client will strongly consider data engineering generalists and enterprise ETL, integration, data warehouse specialists, including those coming from platforms like Informatica, Boomi, SSIS, Talend, or MuleSoft, who are willing to develop hands-on expertise in Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (OFDI). Oracle experience is a plus, not a prerequisite: the ability to independently design a multi-system data architecture matters more than mastery of any single platform.

What You'll Do
Data Platform & Pipeline Engineering*
  • Independently design the enterprise data architecture, including data modeling, repository structure, and segmentation strategy, across disparate source systems (SAP, on-prem Oracle, SQL Server, GIS, and others).
  • Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest data from multiple source systems into a centralized data warehouse.
  • Develop and maintain integrations using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) as the enterprise middleware platform.
  • Transition the organization away from legacy flat file integrations toward API-based, event-driven data flows.
  • Implement data quality checks, reconciliation processes, and monitoring controls to support auditability and regulatory compliance.
Enterprise Reporting & Analytics*
  • Build and maintain semantic data models and data mappings that support self-service reporting and enterprise analytics initiatives.
  • Collaborate with application and business teams to define data requirements across operational, financial, regulatory, and customer domains.
Data Governance & Architecture*
  • Document data flows, technical designs, and integration specifications to ensure long-term maintainability.
  • Partner with enterprise architecture and application teams to align data solutions with enterprise standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend supplemental data tools, including platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, as platform needs evolve, with significant input into tooling decisions.
Team Leadership
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy in a self-directed capacity; minimal technical oversight exists above this role, and there is currently no internal mentor for this specific skill set.
  • Identify gaps in the team's future capability needs and contribute to hiring decisions as the data engineering function grows.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated experience independently designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines and data architecture for enterprise environments, both relational and cloud-based, not solely executing against an existing design.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data integration, or analytics engineering roles.
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with relational database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, or similar).
  • Experience pulling from multiple, disparate source systems (ERP, CRM, CIS, asset management, or similar) into a unified data model.
  • Scripting proficiency (Python, PowerShell, or similar) for pipeline automation.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based enterprise platforms and hybrid on-prem/cloud architectures.
  • Self-directed with strong instincts for data quality, auditability, and governance.
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration and data architecture design patterns.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
About The Opportunity
Why is This a Great Opportunity:

Our client is building their enterprise data engineering capability from the ground up, and this Senior Data Engineer role starts it. As the company executes a full transformation to Oracle Cloud Fusion, you will be the founding architect of a centralized data platform designed to unify data across financial, operational, customer, HR, asset, and other domains.

This is not a maintenance role. It requires someone who can design and build a modern, cloud-integrated data ecosystem with significant autonomy, with the goal of growing a data engineering team around them. The right candidate is a hands-on builder equally comfortable making architectural decisions and writing the pipeline code to execute them.

Benefits Include
  • Annual Bonus Program
  • Low cost medical, dental premiums
  • Very generous Paid Time Off
  • 401K match plus additional Company Funded Retirement Savings Account (even if you don't contribute to 401K)
  • Leadership training program
  • Management that is dedicated to your career success and flexible when life happens
  • Positive/collaborative work culture
