Job summary

Athletics is seeking a Minor League Hitting Coach to work with developing players across its affiliate system. You will instruct hitting mechanics, design personalized programs, and collaborate with staff to integrate hitting with fielding and base running.

Qualifications

• High degree baseball experience as a coach and/or player, preferably at minor league or college level.
• Strong understanding of hitting mechanics, swing analysis, and hitting philosophies.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with players, coaching staff, and front office personnel.
• Experience with video analysis and data-driven approaches to player development.
• Flexibility to work extensive hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the minor league baseball season.
• Ability to attend Spring Training and Instructional League in Mesa, AZ.
• Ability to work at one of the Athletics' minor league affiliates for the minor league season at Las Vegas, NV; Midland,TX; Lansing, MI; Stockton, CA; Mesa, AZ.
• Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate in on-field practices and games for extended periods of time.
• Ability to effectively throw batting practice and hit fungos for practice.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 25 pounds (bats, balls, and training equipment)
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required
• Experience working with players from diverse backgrounds and cultures is preferred
• Familiarity with hitting analytics and the ability to translate data insights into actionable coaching strategies is preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on instruction on hitting mechanics, approach, plate discipline, and situational hitting strategies.
• Implement hitting programs tailored to the needs of players in the Athletics' minor league system.
• Collaborate with other coaches to ensure holistic development across hitting, fielding, base running, and mental skills.
• Analyze player performance through video analysis, data interpretation, and other tools to identify areas for improvement.
• Provide on-field training including batting practice, fungos, and pre-game warm-ups.
• Work with strength and conditioning staff to enhance players' physical abilities related to hitting.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback and development plans.
• Act as a mentor promoting professionalism, work ethic, and growth mindset.
• Collaborate with Player Development to evaluate progress and readiness for advancement.
• Other duties as assigned
