Job summary

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) at the Nellis Campus in Las Vegas seeks a passionate Middle School Humanities Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. You will teach grades 5–8 in English Language Arts, reading, writing, and social studies, building strong literacy and critical thinking.

The ideal candidate will foster a data-driven, structured learning environment, collaborate with colleagues, engage families, and use assessments to inform instruction.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) or ability to obtain prior to start date
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, History, or a related field
• Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
• Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset
• Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment
• Successfully pass required background checks in accordance with Nevada state requirements

Responsibilities

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned humanities instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Nevada Academic Content Standards.
• Teach core subjects including English Language Arts, reading comprehension, writing, and social studies.
• Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning.
• Develop students’ critical thinking, writing, reading comprehension, and analytical reasoning skills.
• Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
• Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
• Encourage student voice, discussion, and engagement in learning.
• Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and school leadership to strengthen instructional practices.
• Use student performance data to support instructional improvement and targeted interventions.
• Contribute to school-wide systems focused on student achievement and continuous improvement.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectations.
• Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home–school partnerships.
• Support family engagement initiatives that promote student success.
