Job summary

Kirby Company is seeking a Material and Inventory Planner to balance material availability with financial efficiency and to ensure right-time material availability without excess. The role drives forecasts, production schedules, and inventory strategies while partnering with Sales, Operations, Production, Purchasing, Warehousing, Engineering and Quality.

The SME on MRP systems will improve data integrity and expand software features to enhance supply chain performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field preferred.
• CPIM certification is a plus.
• 4+ years of experience including material planning, production planning, and scheduling in manufacturing.
• Strong experience using ERP/MRP, Excel, and Microsoft Office; Epicor expertise is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and report development skills; Dashboard development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leads supply chain alignment across Sales, Operations, Finance, Procurement and Engineering.
• Develops data-driven forecasts by analyzing historical sales, seasonality, and market trends.
• Monitors KPIs such as service level, inventory turn, and forecast accuracy; provides insights to leadership.
• Creates and maintains production schedules to align output with demand, material availability, and capacity.
• Manages purchase orders to statements of work and master supply agreements; targets stock levels to minimize stock-outs and excess inventory; addresses slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
• Tracks order status and confirms delivery dates; follows up with suppliers to ensure timely receipt for production.
• Maintains accurate item, lead time, and inventory data in the ERP/MRP system.
• Serves as SME on ERP/MRP systems; improves data integrity and planning parameters.
• Performs scenario planning, execution, and post-project analysis on large-scale projects.
• Participates in cross-functional business-wide projects.
• Develops operational and executive-level reports for timely decision-making.
