Job summary

Deckers Brands is seeking a Domain Data Manager to lead governance and continuous improvement of enterprise data within the Product data domain, enabling trusted, well‑defined data across processes, analytics, and tech. You’ll partner with process owners, data teams, and stakeholders to establish domain strategy, ownership, and standards, with a PLM focus and potential expansion to other domains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Management or related discipline.
  • Data governance, data management, master data management or data quality certification preferred.
  • 6–8 years of experience in data governance or data stewardship with domain scope.
  • Experience with product data or PLM systems preferred.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead domain data strategy, ownership, and prioritization across the product data domain.
  • Establish clear data ownership, decision rights, and governance processes.
  • Identify critical data elements and define standards and business rules.
  • Develop and execute a domain data roadmap to maximize value and reduce risk.
  • Define data quality measures, KPIs, and controls; lead root-cause analysis.
  • Monitor domain data health and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage domain metadata and lifecycle stewardship across systems.
  • Translate business needs into governance and technology requirements.
  • Establish health metrics and scorecards to track performance.
  • Leverage AI and emerging tech to improve data quality and governance.

Job Title: Data Domain Manager
Reports to: VP, Enterprise Process Organization
Location: US (Remote)

The Role As a Domain Data Manager, you will lead the management, governance, and continuous improvement of enterprise data within a business domain, ensuring data is trusted, well‑defined, accessible, and fit for use across business processes, analytics, technology, and enterprise transformation. You’ll partner with business and process owners, data and technology teams, and functional stakeholders to establish domain strategy, identify critical data elements, define ownership and standards, and drive resolution of systemic data issues. Your initial focus will be on the Product data domain, supporting Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes and capabilities, with opportunities to expand your impact as enterprise priorities evolve.

  • Champion data governance by partnering with cross‑functional stakeholders to establish clear ownership, accountability, and decision rights, creating a culture of trust and transparency.
  • Identify and govern critical data elements, setting the standards and business rules that empower teams to make informed decisions and deliver exceptional results.
  • Develop and execute a domain data roadmap, prioritizing improvements that maximize business value, mitigate risk, and support enterprise transformation.
  • Elevate data quality and health by defining robust quality dimensions, KPIs, and controls, and leading root cause analysis to resolve systemic issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and enhance domain data health, proactively escalating risks and driving improvements in accuracy, completeness, consistency, validity, and timeliness.
  • Manage domain metadata, lifecycle, and stewardship, ensuring data is well‑defined, accessible, and responsibly managed throughout its lifecycle.
  • Enable enterprise processes, technology, and transformation by translating business needs into actionable governance and technology requirements, supporting system implementations and integrations.
  • Drive domain performance and continuous improvement by establishing health metrics, quality scorecards, and performance reporting, and identifying opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate data management practices.
  • Leverage emerging technologies and AI to strengthen data quality, governance effectiveness, and business outcomes, positioning Deckers as a leader in data‑driven innovation.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • Data Governance, Data Management, Master Data Management, or Data Quality certification preferred.
  • Process Excellence, Change Management, Project Management, or enterprise transformation certification preferred.
  • 6–8 years of experience in data governance, master data management, data stewardship, business operations, process management, or enterprise transformation, with responsibility for managing data across a business domain.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing or maturing data governance practices, including data ownership, decision rights, identification of critical data, definition of standards and business rules, and prioritization of improvements.
  • Experience establishing data quality measures, KPIs, thresholds, and controls; analyzing trends; conducting root cause analysis; and driving remediation.
  • Experience with business metadata, data definitions, authoritative sources, data lineage, and lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders, facilitate governance decisions, resolve complex data issues, and drive accountability across teams.
  • Experience supporting product data, product lifecycle management processes, or PLM systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience within a global, multi‑brand organization preferred; consumer products, retail, footwear/apparel, manufacturing, or supply chain experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, master data management, metadata, data lineage, stewardship, and lifecycle management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, business acumen, and enterprise mindset.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into data standards, quality requirements, governance processes, technology requirements, controls, and actionable improvement priorities.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise systems, integrations, data dependencies, reporting and analytics requirements, and technology‑enabled data management capabilities.
  • Experience with enterprise data management technologies such as MDM platforms, data quality solutions, data catalogs, metadata/lineage tools, workflow tools, and reporting/visualization platforms.
  • Ability to leverage automation, AI‑enabled capabilities, and emerging data technologies to improve data quality, governance effectiveness, and business outcomes.
  • Demonstrates authenticity, champions diverse and effective teams, drives strategy, cultivates innovation, delivers results, and builds connection.

$108,700.00 - $146,700.00 The salary range posted reflects the estimated minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in: Goleta, California (Remote) Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
