Job Title: Data Delivery Manager/ IT Delivery Manager
Location: SFO, CA(Hybrid – 3 days a Week Onsite)
A Data Delivery Manager bridges the gap between data engineering and business strategy, ensuring that data pipelines, data transformation projects, and analytics solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals. Unlike a traditional IT delivery manager, they must possess a specialized understanding of data governance, data lifecycles, and technical data infrastructure.
Core Skills
- Technical Competency & Data Literacy: Moves beyond standard IT knowledge to detail specific fluency requirements in Cloud Warehouses & Lakes (Snowflake, Databricks), Data Modeling (Star Schemas, Data Vault), and orchestration frameworks (Azure Data factory, AWS Step Functions, Apache Airflow).
- Data-Centric Delivery & Agile Execution: Explains the distinct skills needed to handle data volatility (schema drift, API breakage) and manage specialized metrics like data pipeline latency, processing downtime, and testing coverage.
- Stakeholder Management & Bidirectional Translation: Details the mechanics of translating ambiguous commercial requests into rigid data contracts and technical engineering requirements while handling reporting transparency with executive stakeholders.
- Governance, Compliance & Cloud FinOps: Elaborates on implementing Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC), row/column masking policies under GDPR/CCPA, and monitoring variable, scaling compute costs to enforce structural financial efficiency
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end delivery of data projects, including data warehouse migrations, ETL/ELT pipelines, and BI/reporting initiatives.
- Lead Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and ensure timely project execution.
- Manage and coordinate cross-functional teams including Data Engineers, Data Scientists, DBAs, and BI Developers.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating requirements into actionable deliverables.
- Provide regular project status updates and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Ensure data governance, security compliance, access controls, and data quality standards are maintained.
- Establish and oversee testing processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
- Identify and mitigate project risks related to data integration, source systems, APIs, and platform dependencies.
- Manage cross-team dependencies and ensure seamless delivery across data ecosystems.
- Track project budgets, vendor costs, and optimize cloud infrastructure spending across platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, and GCP.
