Job summary

Universal Health Services (UHS) is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join our patient access team in the United States. This role verifies eligibility and benefits for patient services, handles data entry, and processes referrals with accuracy.

You will answer referral-related questions by phone, update authorizations in the system, and communicate with health plans to ensure timely processing. We support professional growth within UHS and its affiliates.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

SUMMARY: Verifies eligibility and benefits for patient services. Provides data entry and hard copy authorization for referrals. Answer phone calls regarding referral related inquiries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • 1.Review and submit authorization requests to respective health plan payor portals while maintaining internal deadlines.

  • 2.Answer phone calls regarding questions related to any referral inquiries.

  • 3.Monitor messages that are sent to, and received by, provider’s offices within a timely manner.

  • 4.Verify patient benefits and eligibility prior to requesting authorizing services or supplies.

  • 5.Update insurance records as necessary.

  • 6.Communicate system malfunctions and required benefit file updates, as necessary, to ensure system accuracy.

  • 7.Update authorizations on system to ensure timely turnaround and compliance with health plan requirements.
