HireArt is helping our client find Data Collection Operators to perform hands-on robotics data collection and produce high-quality demonstration data used to support the development of robotic systems.
In this role, you\'ll perform precise manipulation and motion tasks while using motion-capture and sensor equipment, as well as operate robotic manipulators through teleoperation interfaces. You\'ll follow defined protocols, verify that collection equipment is functioning correctly, review collected data for quality, and document issues that may impact data collection.
The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable performing repetitive, precise physical tasks for extended periods. You have strong hand-eye coordination, can follow detailed protocols consistently, and are comfortable learning new equipment and workflows in a hands-on robotics environment.
As a Data Collection Operator, you\'ll:
- Perform assigned manipulation and motion tasks, such as assembling, sorting, packing, and handling everyday objects, while wearing motion-capture or sensor equipment and following defined protocols.
- Operate robotic manipulators through teleoperation interfaces, including VR headsets, leader-follower arms, and handheld controllers, to produce demonstration data.
- Perform daily setup, calibration, and shutdown of assigned collection stations, verifying that sensors, cameras, and rigs are recording properly throughout sessions.
- Upload, tag, and validate collected data, identifying and flagging failed, low-quality, or out-of-protocol collection sessions.
- Document hardware issues, dropped frames, unclear instructions, and other collection problems, and communicate findings clearly to the Shift Lead and engineering team.
- Follow established safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and participate in protocol reviews and pilot sessions for new tasks.
Requirements
- Ability to perform repetitive, precise physical tasks for multi-hour sessions, with scheduled breaks, while maintaining attention and quality
- Strong hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness with the ability to quickly learn new physical tasks and workflows
- Reliable and punctual with the ability to consistently follow detailed written protocols and identify when a process is not working as intended
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to report issues and respond effectively to feedback
- Basic computer proficiency, including file management, forms or tracking tools, and simple data quality checks
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for most of an 8-hour shift, occasionally lift up to approximately 35 lbs, and wear a VR headset and body-worn sensors for extended periods
- Interest in robotics and AI with a strong commitment to both data quality and consistency
Highly Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with robot teleoperation, humanoid or manipulator data collection, or motion-capture data collection
- Familiarity with VR interfaces, game controllers, haptic devices, or motion-tracking systems
- Experience in warehouse or fulfillment operations, assembly, manufacturing, lab technician, QA, testing, or a similar hands-on environment
- Basic ability to troubleshoot hardware or software during collection sessions, including restarting, re-pairing, or recalibrating equipment
- Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
- HireArt covers all costs for short and long-term disability and life insurance
- 401k package
