Job description

Are you an electrical or mechanical engineer working on mission-critical projects who wants to move closer to the technology itself?

Our client is one of the world’s leading quantitative investment managers. It is partner-owned and technology-led, has more than 2,000 people across 17 cities, and its trading platform runs on its own infrastructure. That makes the physical layer, meaning power, cooling, space and connectivity, genuinely mission-critical.

They’re hiring into their global Site Management team. The team owns the physical infrastructure behind five data centres and around 25 offices worldwide, and that footprint is growing quickly with new large-scale data centre builds and more offices coming online.

What you’ll do
  • Act as a technical project manager on data centre and office fit-outs, from white space and critical rooms to desk-level power and connectivity
  • Plan rack layouts, cabling pathways, cooling containment and power distribution in growing data centres
  • Size UPS rooms, generator space and cooling for new offices, working alongside property and facilities teams on the MEP side
  • Write Scopes of Work and RFPs, and manage contractors and vendors through delivery
  • Track capacity across power, space and cooling, and recommend improvements
  • Manage installs, moves and changes in data centres and colocation sites, and take part in scheduled power downs
  • Help build the team’s own tooling and automation
What you’ll bring
  • A degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Technology Engineering (Master’s preferred, Bachelor’s considered)
  • Around 3 to 8 years’ experience, ideally in data centres, critical facilities, MEP consultancy or a similarly high-uptime environment
  • Comfort with single and three-phase power calculations and reading electrical and control diagrams
  • Exposure to UPS, generators, switchgear, ATS, PDUs or HVAC
  • Strong organisation and communication, and the ability to work within rigorous change control
  • Freedom to travel internationally

Nice to have: IT exposure (servers, network kit, fibre and copper cabling), Python or other scripting, and internships in facilities, data centre operations or power distribution. If you don’t have the IT side yet, that’s fine. The team teaches it.

  • Rare breadth: power, cooling, cabling, networks and servers across both data centres and offices
  • Real greenfield work on new data centre builds and office expansion
  • A hiring manager who actively develops people, in a young and collaborative team
  • Global exposure and travel with a top-tier, fast-growing firm
