LINX is hiring Low Voltage Technicians in the Cheyenne, WY area to install, terminate, and test structured cabling on commercial construction projects, paying $20.00 to $29.00 an hour depending on tier and experience.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems for CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber, and coaxial cable.
• Pull, suspend, fireproof, terminate, and test cable runs to BICSI standards, NEC, and local code.
• Build, install, and maintain MDFs and IDFs, including racks, patch panels, wire management, and network hardware.
• Troubleshoot low voltage cable systems on site.
• Document installations for compliance with standards and project specs.
• Communicate clearly with site contacts to resolve technical issues.

Low Voltage Technician – Data Center Construction

Pay: $20.00/ hr (Tech I) to $29.00/ hr (Tech III), depending on tier and experience

LINX is hiring Low Voltage Technicians in the Cheyenne, WY area to install, terminate, and test structured cabling on commercial construction projects, paying $20.00 to $29.00 an hour depending on tier and experience.

You won't be working the same building every week. LINX's Enterprise division runs cabling into corporate offices, hospitals, K-12 and higher education campuses, small data centers, and other commercial or industrial environments so the work stays varied and the skills you build transfer everywhere. If you already own your tools and know your way around a punch-down block, there's a clear, defined path here from Technician I through Technician III and beyond.

Where This Role Fits at LINX

What You'll Be Doing

• Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems for CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cable
• Pull, suspend, fireproof, terminate, and test cable runs to BICSI standards, NEC, and local code

Closet & Rack Build-Out

• Build, install, and maintain MDFs and IDFs, including racks, patch panels, wire management systems, and network hardware
• Troubleshoot low voltage cable systems as issues come up on site

Quality & Documentation

• Document every installation for compliance with industry standards and project specifications
• Deliver organized, professional workmanship that meets spec on every run

Customer & Site Professionalism

• Communicate clearly and professionally with site contacts to resolve technical issues

Required — Technician I (applies to all levels):

• Able to work on ladders and use power tools; able to lift, carry, and set up a 50 pound box or ladder
• Must own a complete set of personal low voltage hand tools (snips, strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches)
• Available to work 2nd or 3rd shift, overtime, and under deadline pressure
• Must pass a 7 year criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and physical
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
• Professional working proficiency in English, written and verbal

Required — Technician II (all Technician I requirements, plus):

• 1+ year of commercial low voltage installation experience
• Able to terminate a jack, pull cable, and work a 90-degree bend proficiently with limited supervision
• Can install, terminate, and test CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cabling systems proficiently, including with Fluke DSX-600/8000 cable certifiers
• Able to build out MDF and IDF closets — racks, patch panels, wire management, network hardware — with supervision

Required — Technician III (all Technician II requirements, plus):

• 2+ years of commercial low voltage installation experience
• Able to terminate a jack, pull cable, and work a 90-degree bend proficiently with no supervision
• Can install, terminate, and test CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cabling systems with no supervision
• Able to build out MDF and IDF closets with no supervision

This Role Is Probably Not Right For You If

• You don't have experience with commercial construction — this isn't an entry point into the construction industry
• You're looking for residential or small-office work — this is commercial data center construction, on a crew, to a schedule
• You'd rather work solo than as part of a crew — Team LINX means making each other better and winning together, not going it alone

Preferred

• BICSI Technician or Installer certification, Copper or Optical Fiber
• Powder Actuated Tools Certification
• Confined Space Certification
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Manufacturer certifications for installation and maintenance (Fluke, Fujikura, Sumitomo, Corning, Hilti)
• High school diploma

Pay Rate:

• Tech II:$22.00-$25.00/hour
• Tech III:$25.00-$29.00/hour, depending on level and experience
