Job summary

Google is seeking an Operations Technician in Stillwater, OK to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware and server software in a cutting-edge data center environment.

The role involves moving racks, configuring networks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will participate in projects and develop contingency plans while working non-standard hours as required.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware, and server hardware.
  • Experience with networking protocols.
  • Experience with component-level repairs on IT equipment.
  • Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) and perform physical tasks.
  • Must be able to work non-standard hours including weekends and night shifts.

  • Coordinate across teams to manage construction activities at facilities for service vendors, and ensure safety, security, and compliance.
  • Compile and analyze data to create scripts and tools for data center-related tracking and reporting, in line with project objectives.
  • Provide expertise and mentorship to deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across teams.
  • Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose moderately complex issues with equipment or infrastructure as they arise.
  • Own the repair, fix, and performance of preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues.

Minimum qualifications
  • 4 years of experience with diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware and server hardware.
  • Experience with networking protocols.
  • Experience with performing component-level repairs on IT equipment.
  • Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment as required and ability to exert yourself physically over extended periods of time, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling and lifting.
  • Must have the ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.
Preferred qualifications
  • 6 years of experience in maintenance and monitoring of server systems.
  • Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment.
  • Experience collaborating and partnering with teams.
  • Experience in team and project management and leadership.

US: $122000 - $173000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Coordinate across teams involving moderate to high complexity to manage construction activities at facilities to support service vendors, and ensure safety, security, and compliance. Help identify needs and coordinate the allocation of resources for space expansion and modification design.
  • Compile and analyze data to create and configure scripts and tools for data center-related tracking and reporting, in line with project objectives, with some guidance.
  • Provide expertise and mentorship to deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across teams.
  • Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose moderately complex issues with equipment or infrastructure as they arise, and identifying the resources needed to resolve identified issues.
  • Own the repair, fix, and performance of preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with limited precedent, independently.
