Job summary

TechDigital Group in Portland, OR is seeking an L2 Data Center Technician with 4-5 years of hands-on experience to perform rack and stack, install, relocate and decommission hardware.

The role requires strong cabling skills, firmware updates, IP configuration, and collaboration with network admins. It operates in a rotational shift environment (no night shift) and is an on-site position at our Portland data center.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years experience in data center technician role
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and break-fix skills are required
  • Comfortable with cabling, labeling, and documentation discipline

Responsibilities

  • Perform rack & stack of servers, network devices, and storage equipment
  • Handle cabling (fiber & copper) including labeling and cable management
  • Support installation, relocation, and decommissioning of hardware
  • Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering
  • Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors
  • Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed
  • Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers
  • Assist network admins with server issues such as cable replacements and port re-routing
  • Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch to enable remote access and configuration
  • Assist network admins who reach out requesting specific assistance with servers or switches
  • Additionally perform Level 1 items as needed
