Job summary

Covestic Inc. is seeking a Level 1 Data Center Technician to support installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of servers, networking gear, and cabling at our Dekalb, IL site. The role emphasizes reliability and efficient data center operations.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED, 1 year of general work experience, and hands-on computer hardware knowledge. Travel to data center locations is required, with strong communication and attention to detail expected.

Qualifications

  • Real ID or other federally accepted identification for U.S. travel.
  • Minimum 1 year of general work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of or hands-on experience with computer hardware and repair.
  • Ability to travel to data center locations.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new software and tools.
  • Strong professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and move at least 50 pounds.
  • Capable of walking long distances throughout the day.
  • Willingness to work in environments that may include hot aisles and indoor areas reaching 90+ degrees Fahrenheit.

Responsibilities

  • Support installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of servers, networking equipment, and cabling.
  • Collaborate with Data Center Leads to ensure reliable data center operations.
  • Assist with physical tasks, such as moving and racking equipment for projects.
  • Assist with inventory management and documentation.

Level 1 - Data Center Technician #13457

Basic knowledge of or hands-on experience with computer hardware and repair needed.

Location

Onsite - Dekalb, IL.. (Only open to currently local applicants - relocation applicants will not be considered.)

As a Data Center Technician, you will work closely with Data Center Leads to support the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of servers, networking equipment, and cabling. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and performance of our data center operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field, or currently pursuing one.

  • Assist withphysical tasks, such as moving and racking equipment for special projects. including Hardware/component replacement focused with the possibility of delving into software in the future
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by management to support operational goals.
