Job summary

Hut 8 is seeking a Data Center Technician to support uptime and routine maintenance of mining infrastructure at our Amarillo site. You will work with power, cooling, and networking systems, perform basic miner repairs, flash firmware, and execute preventative maintenance under supervision.

You will identify issues quickly, coordinate across teams, and contribute to performance reports on uptime, power usage, and environmental conditions to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Beginner to intermediate knowledge of data center infrastructure, including electrical systems, cooling systems, and network architecture, specifically within the context of Bitcoin mining operations.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical issues related to power, cooling, and network systems.
• Knowledge of data center best practices, standards, and maintenance procedures is preferred but not required.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to react quickly to critical incidents.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and optimize all critical data center systems, including power distribution units, UPS systems, cooling infrastructure, backup generators, and fire suppression systems to ensure continuous and efficient mining operations.
• Carry out basic miner repairs and maintenance, flash firmware on miners, and handle associated miner tools and equipment.
• Perform general facility duties as assigned.
• Support preventative maintenance schedules, performing regular inspections, cleaning, and necessary repairs on all data center equipment to prevent unplanned downtime.
• Quickly identify and troubleshoot infrastructure and miner issues, coordinating with multiple teams to resolve technical problems and restore service with minimal disruption to mining activities.
• Monitor and contribute to detailed performance reports, including metrics such as uptime, power usage, and environmental conditions, to assist with decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
