Job summary

GoDaddy in Ashburn, VA seeks a Data Center Technician for the in-person Data Center Operations team on a Monday–Friday afternoon shift. You will support mission-critical storage, network, and server systems, handling tickets and onsite deployments.

With 3+ years in data centers and skills across Linux/Windows, RAID/storage, and ITSM concepts, you will mentor colleagues, manage inventory, and ensure SLAs while traveling between sites when needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on data center experience, handling tickets independently and training others.
• Experience supporting enterprise customers in an operations environment; strong verbal and written communication.
• Intermediate skills in two or more areas: Linux/Windows, networking, scripting, or data center architecture.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex hardware failures in storage, network, and server systems.
• Perform break-fix and server migrations while preserving RAID configurations.
• Deploy servers and network devices, manage cable testing and installation.
• Own inventory logistics, receive/ship equipment, run monthly break-fix inventory, and perform audits.
• Manage ticket queues to meet SLAs and mentor junior Technicians.

Location Details: Ashburn, VA

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days)and some work entirely remotely.

This is an in-office position and you’ll be expected to work full-time in our Ashburn data center location, and therefore must live within commuting distance. You will work from this office beginning on your first day.

GoDaddy's Data Center Operations team keeps the physical infrastructure behind our products running around the clock. In our Ashburn, VA data center, you'll be the advanced technical liaison between our technology teams and the data center environment, working a Monday-Friday afternoon shift alongside a team that supports mission-critical storage, network, and server systems. You'll work our ticketing queue, take on the more complex hardware problems that come through the door, and help junior Technicians build the skills to grow into the next stage of their careers.

What you'll get to do…

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex hardware failures on mission-critical storage, network, and server systems using physical, remote, and operating system tools.
• Perform break-fix on servers of any type, including server migrations such as moving drives into a new-generation chassis while preserving the RAID configuration.
• Deploy servers and network devices — switches, load balancers, and related infrastructure — including data and power cable management, testing, and installation.
• Own inventory and logistics, receiving equipment from OEMs in Workday, shipping equipment out, completing monthly break-fix parts inventory, and running inventory audits.
• Manage and prioritize the ticket queue to meet Service Level Agreements with business partners, while training and developing junior Technicians and maintaining documentation for the equipment you support.

Your experience should include…

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in a data center environment, working tickets independently and resolving complex issues with minimal direction. Experience supporting enterprise customers in an operations environment, with clear verbal and written communication and a track record of conducting effective training.
• Intermediate skills in two or more of these areas: Linux and/or Windows systems administration, networking concepts, scripting or programming (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Java, Perl, Ruby, or PHP), or data center architecture.
• Intermediate experience with IT hardware concepts: RAID, storage, hardware diagnostics and repair, SAS/SATA, boot process and boot loader, file systems, directory structure, and base operating system installation.
• Working knowledge of core OS services (SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP, LDAP), remote management protocols (KVM, iDRAC, IPMI), and network device and protocol configuration. Familiarity with ITSM concepts such as ITIL 4 and Agile methodologies, rack and power optimization, and hardware lifecycle management.
• Available for afternoon shifts, an on-call rotation, and travel between data center sites when needed. Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.

Compensation:

The estimated pay ranges for this role are listed below. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other forms of compensation, which may include a corporate bonus and/or equity awards, subject to the terms of applicable plans and individual eligibility.

$40.14—$60.34 USD

Austin, D.C. Metro, CA (non-Bay Area), HI, IL, MA, NH, OR, VA, WA:

$34.62—$51.92 USD

New York City Metro, Kirkland/Seattle:

$36.92—$55.38 USD
