Job summary

Jacobs is hiring a Start-Up/Commissioning Manager for an onsite data center project in Spartanburg, SC. You will lead a diverse team through commissioning and startup of critical systems, guiding technicians, OEMs, and subcontractors to ensure testing and readiness.

The role emphasizes collaboration, safe startup practices, and strong coordination across disciplines to deliver operational readiness. Travel and on-site presence are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree.
• 5-14 years of Start-Up and Commissioning experience in the Data Center or equivalent mission-critical facilities.
• Experience managing the commissioning of critical systems and infrastructure.
• Experience in a supervisory/managerial role with cross-discipline coordination in mission-critical environments.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel.
• Willingness to travel and work at various clients’ locations.
• On site for duration of the work.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Experience with standardizing processes across geographies.
• Track record of coordinating multi-site teams and ensuring consistent deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Develop Project Start-Up and Commissioning Plan and execution strategies.
• Lead the team in Developing System Start-Up and Commissioning Plans for Electrical and HVAC/Cooling systems.
• Lead the team in Generating and executing Start-Up and Commissioning documents.
• Startup equipment in a safe and effective manner.
• Facilitate meetings for the start-up team.
• Maintain action item lists.
• Maintain engineering change control logs.
• Provide technical assistance and input.
• Coordinate OEM Service technicians as needed.
• Coordinate with construction management and turnover teams to ensure seamless transition from construction to commissioning.
• Apply engineering knowledge of mission-critical HVAC systems, electrical distribution, backup power systems, instrumentation, controls, and automation.
