Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Data Center Sr. Technician to perform preventative maintenance and complex corrective repairs within a data center environment.

This role supports critical operations and requires hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting while adhering to CBRE standards. You will monitor Building Management System alarms, coordinate with vendors, maintain safety and regulatory compliance, and help develop standard work processes and SOPs for high-risk tasks.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school with 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Ability to work shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems.
  • Experience analyzing information to make judgments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Intermediate math skills for percentages, fractions, and similar calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily site inspections of Mechanical & Engineering systems and equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
  • Respond to Building Management System alarms and complete emergency repairs as needed.
  • Ensure third parties and vendors follow company processes and comply with laws and regulations; accompany vendor visits.
  • Verify subcontractor performance meets Master Service Agreement requirements.
  • Complete planned preventative and reactive maintenance on all equipment; assist staff with complex tasks.
  • Check BMS for running/alarm conditions and respond to complex HVAC issues.
  • Review meter readings from UPS, PDU and utilities and document accurately.
  • Provide mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and fixes for facility faults.

Job description

About the Role:

As a CBRE Data Center Sr. Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and complex corrective repairs within a Data Center operation. This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.

  • Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.

  • React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.

  • Make sure third parties and vendors follow compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. Accompany vendor's on-site visits as needed and ensure site standards are met.

  • Verify subcontractor performance meets all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.

  • Complete planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on all equipment. Assist staff with tricky situations.

  • Check BMS for running and alarm conditions and respond to complex HVAC-related client problems.

  • Review meter readings from UPS, PDU and utilities to ensure accurate information is documented.

  • Provide Mechanical and Electrical troubleshooting. Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.

  • Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out maintenance at the site.

  • Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures. Follow all safety processes and requirements and confirm all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met.

  • Operate a permit-to-work system under the company's health and safety procedures. Verify that appropriate controls are within the Permit-to-Work systems.

  • Ensure that ACOP's applicable to the maintenance industry procedures.

  • Conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records.

  • Help create and develop work processes, Job Hazard Analysis reports, and SOPs for critical work with risk assessment. Ensure that CERM documents and logbooks are updated.

  • Complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities.

  • Have some knowledge of standard principles with limited practical experience in applying them.

  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.

  • Work within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

  • Exchange straightforward information, ask questions, and check for understanding.

What You'll Need:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1-2 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

  • Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays

  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems.

  • Experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.

  • Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial related calculations.
