Job summary

Google's Data Center Hardware Operations team in West Memphis, AR is seeking a Data Center Server Operations Manager to lead and grow our on-site infrastructure, networks, and compute platforms. You will deploy, maintain, and optimize state-of-the-art data center systems while coordinating with global teams on strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience managing technical, vendor, agreement management, or delivery teams.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.
• Experience in data center environments, including building and operating infrastructure, network and compute architecture, and Linux/Unix administration.
• Experience initiating and executing strategic initiatives in a global environment.
• Experience with data gathering, analysis and presentation skills.
• Track record of leading and improving Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
• Ability to foster a collaborative team environment to implement and drive the safety culture.

About the job

The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring, maintaining and deploying the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology. As a Data Center Technician, you'll deploy and maintain Google's advanced Data Center Server and Network Infrastructure. You'll also participate in or lead local project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.

In this role, duties range from the physical deployment of data center-related technology to working closely with the various stakeholders. It will fall to you to ensure that our goals, missions and projects are successfully delivered, and, more importantly, that they are repeatable across our global array of data centers. This position offers a great introduction to the wider engineering world at Google. Depending of your area of interest, capabilities, and geographical mobility, you will have the opportunity to develop either within Hardware Operations or move towards software development, engineering, networking operations or our project management groups.

In this role, your team will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster). They will also take on the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. They may lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $138000 - $201000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
