Job summary

Google Inc. in Midlothian, TX is seeking a Data Center Area Lead, Server Operations. You will manage a team of Data Center Technicians responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of server hardware and components.

As Area Lead you will own regional operational outcomes, lead site leaders and operations managers, manage OPEX, drive safety culture, and align projects with KPI targets. This role requires flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience managing technical teams in charge of installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, or maintaining hardware servers and its components.
• 3 years of experience in site-level data center operational leadership.
• 3 years of experience developing and managing managers.
• Experience with Linux and network architecture.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.

Responsibilities

As a Hardware Operations Manager, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians. You will oversee the quality installation of server hardware and components and take charge of complicated installations/troubleshooting.

Beyond the metrics, you are responsible for defining the region’s identity, driving a relentless commitment to site safety and fostering a collaborative culture. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $205000 - $285000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Maintain, monitor, and execute security and operational procedures and track/analyze trends to identify opportunities for improvements ensuring alignment with organizational policies.


• Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues.


• Support and contribute to the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other compliance programs and initiatives in collaboration with other teams to ensure environmental and safety incidents are investigated, resolved, and reported.
