Job summary

HazTek Safety Management is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead safety operations for a data center project near Houston, TX. The role emphasizes OSHA compliance, implementing best safety practices, and fostering a culture where every worker goes home safe.

Responsibilities include overseeing safety performance, hazard identification, and coordinating with owners and contractors to ensure safety requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of direct construction leadership experience, with 3+ years on data center or mission-critical projects.
• Active BCSP CHST certification required (OSHA 510/500 knowledge preferred).
• Degree in safety-related field preferred; OSHA training is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction safety performance across active-facility projects.
• Identify and assess high-risk activities before work begins with hazard identification and risk planning.
• Review MOPs and high-risk work plans for safety controls and emergency planning.
• Plan and oversee energized work, hot work, lifting/rigging, confined space, excavation activities.
• Evaluate contractor safety plans and incident reports for alignment with safety requirements.
• Track corrective actions through closure and verify field implementation.
• Analyze safety observations and trends to identify areas needing attention.
• Participate in preconstruction and safety-planning meetings to set owner safety expectations.
• Collaborate with contractor safety reps, project leadership, and stakeholders on safety performance.
• Provide owner-side safety guidance while maintaining accountability boundaries.
• Conduct daily safety observations and audits to identify hazards and corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance with zero-tolerance safety policies.
• Maintain records of site visits, incidents, inspections, and documentation.
