Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Safety Engineer for field-based, data center and mission critical construction projects in Olympia, WA. The role focuses on enforcing safety programs, conducting site inspections, audits, and trainings to sustain a zero-incident culture while ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and NFPA 70E.

The candidate will review JHAs, permits, and pre-task plans, collaborate with project teams, and assist in incident investigations and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years construction safety experience on large commercial, industrial, mission critical, or data center projects.
• Strong understanding of OSHA construction standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards including NFPA 70E and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Experience delivering safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and safety committee meetings.
• Ability to investigate incidents, perform root cause analyses, and develop corrective actions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence field personnel and management.

Responsibilities

• Support and enforce safety programs on large-scale mission critical and data center projects to ensure compliance.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
• Lead safety meetings, orientations, toolbox talks, and training events.
• Review JHAs, permits, and pre-task plans to verify risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with project teams and subcontractors to address safety concerns.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective action development.
• Prepare and maintain documentation and reporting for safety events.
